Scope & content
Black and white engraved plate depicting Cannons in Middlesex erected on the site of a former house 'Cannons', built by the 1st. Duke of Chandos (James Brydges). The house was later demolished in 1747 and its effects were auctioned, when Chandos lost his fortune. The estate was subsequently bought by William Hallet, who built a smaller country house in its place. As of 2022, it is the site of the North London Collegiate School. The book plate bears the imprints 'Published as the Act directs Jany. 1st. 1782, by W.Watts, Chelsea', 'J. A. Gresse del' and 'W. Watts sculp'.
