Black and white engraved plate depicting Sheffield Place in Sussex. John Baker Holroyd (later First Earl of Sheffield) purchased Sheffield Park in 1796 and extensively remodelled the house and garden. He hired James Wyatt to design the house and Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and Humphry Repton to work on the garden. As of 2022, the house is in private ownership. The National Trust purchased the gardens in 1954. The house can be seen in the centre of the engraving with a figure at an open window and another figure below. Two talking figures can be seen to the front of the engraving. The book plate bears the imprints 'Publish'd as the Act directs, Jany. 1st. 1779, by W.Watts, Kemp's Row, Chelsea', 'P.
