Black and white engraved plate depicting Addington Place in Croydon, Surrey, with a figure sitting on a bench to the front right of the engraving and sheep in the foreground. Figures can be seen outside the front of the house. The gardens were landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and the house later became the summer residence of the Archbishops of Canterbury during much of the 19th Century. The book plate bears the imprints 'Published as the Act directs, May 1st. 1780, by W.Watts, Kemp's Row, Chelsea', 'J. Carter delt' and 'W. Watts sculpt'.
