Coloured engraved plate depicting [Woburn Farm], near Addlestone, Surrey. The house can be seen in the background to the left of the bookplate with a winding river and trees in the foreground. Woburn Farm was owned by Philip Southcote who was an army captain later married to the wealthy Duchess of Cleveland. Southcote created a garden and farm on the estate, with some features designed by William Kent (an architect, landscape architect, painter and furniture designer). Woburn Farm was influential in popularising the 'English landscape garden' style of landscape design.
