Coloured engraved plate depicting the garden at Hall Barn in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. A tree lined path to the left of the engraving mirrors water features to the right. The grounds of the estate were designed by Edmund Waller, prior to the house being built. The estate remained in the hands of the Waller family until 1833, when it was sold to Sir Gore Ouseley. The book plate bears the imprints 'Woollet.Delint' and 'Willm. Wise sculpt. Published Jany.1.1798'. From the book 'Observations on modern gardening' by Thomas Whately
