Cours de botanique

This ‘course in botany’ was created for the education of the children of the Duke of Orleans in 18th-century France. It illustrates the classification systems of both Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778), ‘the father of modern taxonomy’ and the French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1665–1708). It was created by the French physician and botanical artist Pierre Philippe Alyon (1746-1816).
